Abstract
Cultural crimes are crimes that are committed with the main purpose of violating culture, belief, norms and custom. Participatory criminal policy is the participation of civil society at different levels with the aim of preventing and intervening the society. Regarding cultural crimes, there are two government and community responses, and the main place of public participation is in the community response. This research answers the question with descriptive analytical method and using library findings: what is the approach of participatory criminal policy against cultural crimes? Participatory criminal policy can play a significant role in controlling cultural crimes, but the capacities of public participation have not been well explained and used so far. Participatory criminal policy follows the two approaches of strengthening people's participation in government response and strengthening people's participation in community response, which in community response, the effectiveness of participatory criminal policy measures is more than measures in government response. It has various and important challenges in controlling cultural crimes that reduce its effectiveness. Cultural crimes can be divided in the form of property, behavior, dressing and expanding prostitution. Participatory criminal policy has a long way to go to achieve optimal conditions in the implementation of its goals.
