The problems of crimes and deviances can be explained and analyzed in a wide range of fields such as sociology, medicine, law, etc. One of the important theoretical frameworks for explaining crimes, their causes, treatments, control and prevention is the psychological framework. By reviewing and combining the psychological theories, the present article presents an appropriate theoretical framework to explain crimes with an emphasis on the Iranian society. Using the written sources and relevant texts and by inferential and analytical methods, the present research established some relationships between the psychological variables and crimes and deviances by applying it to the Iranian society. Four general views were introduced, in the present research: psychodynamics including psychoanalytic and attachment theories; cognitive including the theory of criminal thinking patterns and cognitive dissonance; personality disorder including neuroticism and Eysenck's personality model; and, motivational including Maslow's theory of basic needs were used to provide some psychological explanations of the crimes and deviances. The results confirmed that it is a basic necessity to consider the psychological explanations of crimes and deviances in policy making in the judicial system of the country.
